ACCOUNTING
APPLICANT MUST HAVE A CREDIT PASS IN MATHEMATICS, ENGLISH LANGUAGE, ECONOMIC/ACCOUNTING/COMMERCE AND ANY OTHER 2 SUBJECTS
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH)
Candidates with at least a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree with a Second Class Lower Division of Babcock University or of any other recognized University, in any of the Basic Sciences, Medical/Health Sciences, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Environmental Health, Health Education, Home Economics, Nutrition & Dietetics, Medical/Health Records, Demography & Social Statistics, Ecology/Geography, Health Services Administration and Management, Medical Sociology/Anthropology or MBBS, with post National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) would be considered for admission into the MPH program. Those with Biochemistry background will be suitable for admission
1. In addition to the above requirements, applicants must satisfy the ordinary level (‘O’ level) first degree matriculation requirements of Babcock University, that is ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two sittings, in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics or one other appropriate science or social science subject.
2. Candidates for Health Ministry are required to have at least a Bachelor of Art in (B.A Hons.) Theology,
Religion, Pastoral Ministry in addition to PGD in Public Health.
3. Applicants for Health Ministry must possess at least 5 O’ Level or its equivalent in not more than two sittings. A credit pass in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Christian Religious Knowledge and one other appropriate science or social science subject.
Admission recommendation shall be made to the Postgraduate School through the Departmental Postgraduate Committee. Recommendation for Admission will be based on Candidate’s performance in the screening exercise (written/oral) to be conducted by the Department. Applicants are also expected to write and submit a two-page proposal on their research interest with the application.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR B. NSc. NURSING SCIENCE (DIRECT ENTRY ONLY)
Candidates seeking admission into the school of nursing science programme for bachelor of nursing science degree must satisfy the minimum university requirements for admission to the degree programme. They must have a minimum of credit C level passes at the senior secondary school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent in five subjects, at not more than two seating, which must include English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. Registered Nurses, Registered Midwife. Candidates with first degree in life sciences will be admitted by direct entry into 200 Level provided they satisfy other University admission requirements.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MASS COMMUNICATION (B.SC.)
Candidates are admitted into the degree programme in any of the following three ways:
1. The University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME);
2. Direct Entry; and
3. Inter-University Transfer
Four year degree programme
In addition to acceptable passes in UTME, candidates must obtain at credit level, passes in the senior secondary certificate (SSC) in five subject including Mathematics, English Language, Literature-in-English, and two other arts or social science subjects in not more than two seating.
Direct entry mode
Any one of the following qualifications is admissible for the three-year degree programme. Candidates for Direct Entry admission shall, in addition to the O/L requirements, possess a Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism or related disciplines from any institution approved by the Senate of the University with not less than a CGPA of 3.0. Candidates with GCE ‘A Level’, and JUPEB may be considered for direct entry in Mass Communication.
Inter-university transfer mode
Learners can transfer into 200-Level courses provided they have the relevant qualifications. Universities are to satisfy themselves that the grades obtained by such candidates are acceptable.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR M.Ed GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
Since Guidance and Counselling Psychology is a multidisciplinary course, candidates seeking entry to the M.Ed. degree in Guidance and Counselling Psychology should hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Second Class lower Honours or above) in any course from any accredited university. In addition the candidate must have five credits in 5 SSCE subject including English and any other four subjects or grade II certificate.
M.Ed EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION AND PLANNING
Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into the programme must satisfy the general requirements stipulated by the College of Postgraduate Studies of Babcock University. Specifically, admission to M.Ed Educational Planning and Administration is limited to the holders of the following qualifications:
(i) WASC O’ Level with credit passes in 5 subjects at a maximum of two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics and other three subjects.
(ii) Any Bachelor Degree in Education/ B.Sc (Ed.) Educational Planning and Administration or related field from Babcock University or any other University accredited with at least Second Class lower Division.
